Farmer for Hire Initiative

What is it?

With the high cost of living and inflation for groceries at an all time high, we believe everyone deserves good food. This initiative was created to help people in our community have the option for farm fresh food right in their backyard.

Austen has been farming for over 5 years and deeply values being able to grow what he eats, eat seasonally, and connect with the food systems around him. Even though he’s never owned a farm, Austen has always sought out spaces to grow food.

With this new initiative, community members who are too busy to grow their own food, or don’t know where to start can hire a farmer to transform their garden into a ready-to-pick food-scape. Just tell us what you would like to eat and we’ll do the rest; from starting the seedlings to transplanting them into your garden, to tending them until they are ready to harvest. We can either let you know when your food is ready to pick or we can do it for you. This is as local as it gets!

Services Offered:

• Vegetable garden planning, scheduling and creation

• Optional pre-designed garden packages

• Seed germination and Transplanting

• Vegetable garden maintenance (weeding, fertilizing and upkeep)

• Pest manangement

• Harvesting of vegetables or notification of “ready-to-pick”

• Educational opportunities
